I am considering whether to institute civil proceedings for an injunction in this case. Inquiries which are being made in this connection are nearing completion.

Would my right hon. and learned Friend say why he has taken so long to reach a decision in this flagrant case of racial discrimination, concerning a sophisticated hotel proprietor who turned out of his hotel, after the couple had already occupied a room, a man and his wife simply because the man was coloured?

As this matter may come before the courts, I do not think it desirable that I should comment upon it, but it is not without difficulty. Inquiries are nearing completion and a decision will be made very shortly.
