Oral Answers to Questions — Ministry of Labour – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 12 April 1965.
asked the Minister of Labour what proposals he has for introducing compulsory employers' liability insurance.
The hon. Member has just sent me the correspondence leading up to his Question. I would like to have more time to go into the important and difficult issues which arise. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
May I thank the Minister for his reply? In coming to a decision, will he bear in mind that there are many small firms which are not insured for this liability and one has cases where the liability is admitted but the firm is unable to pay the compensation, with the result that the employee is left in an extremely difficult position?
