Oral Answers to Questions — Ministry of Labour – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 12 April 1965.
asked the Minister of Labour if he will take steps to initiate a sample survey of the wages and conditions of service of old age pensioners working in industrial and commercial concerns.
A survey has already been undertaken into some aspects of this question by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance, and it is hoped to publish the results in due course.
I thank my hon. Friend for that very acceptable reply. May I point out that there is growing concern in the country that old people should be used to do a full-time job for a part-time salary? May we hope that he will use his influence to stop this practice?
When will the report be published?
That is a question for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance. I understand that the analysis of the data has not yet been completed but it is hoped to have it published before very long.
