asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that up to the end of 1963 the number of firms in Aberdeen granting day release to students for study in Aberdeen Commercial College in commercial and distributive subjects was less than in building, engineering, printing and similar subjects and was also less than in comparable English cities; and what steps he has taken to rectify this disparity since his letter of 10th December, 1963, to the honourable and learned Member for Aberdeen, North, on this subject.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
