Oral Answers to Questions — Cyprus – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 16 June 1964.
Mr Arthur Henderson
, Rowley Regis and Tipton
12:00,
16 June 1964
asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations and the Colonies whether he will make a statement on the present situation in Cyprus.
Mr Duncan Sandys
, Wandsworth Streatham
My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary will be speaking about the Cyprus problem in the debate this afternoon. On the general situation, I have nothing to add to my statement to the House on 2nd June.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
