Oral Answers to Questions — Scotland – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 29 April 1964.
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has for closer liaison between Scottish schools and universities.
Some of the major common interests of the schools and universities come within the scope of the new Scottish Certificate of Education Examination Board on which both schools and universities are represented. Individual universities are developing direct contacts with headmasters and other teachers. The universities are also in regular touch with my Department and, whenever appropriate, are represented on committees which I appoint.
Although recognising that definition, may I suggest that there are many entrants to universities who failed to find places, and can we not get a clearer definition of the Secretary of State's responsibility in further assisting university entrants?
Both those supplementary questions are different questions from that on the Order Paper.
