Oral Answers to Questions — Scotland – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 29 April 1964.
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many vacancies exist for radiographers in the Greenock and Districts Hospitals Group; and when there was last a full complement.
One, Sir. There was last a full complement in August 1963.
Would the Secretary of State consider initiating some bonus system for radiographers in certain places because the shortage of even one deprives a hospital service of a considerable amount of investigation, particularly in an area of heavy industry? Would he look at this matter, not as one of great urgency, but as one of pertinence to situations such as this?
I shall certainly look at it. I am glad to see that the numbers of radiographers coming into the service are going up, and I commend the particular efforts Greenock has made in bringing notice of this sort of work to the attention of school-leavers.
