Oral Answers to Questions — Agriculture, Fisheries and Food – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 16 December 1963.
asked the Minister of Agricuture, Fisheries and Food if, in view of the danger to animals and birds, he will introduce legislation to make it an offence to discard nylon fishing line in waters in the United Kingdom.
My right hon. Friend does not feel it would be right to ask Parliament to make a criminal offence out of this.
I thank the Parliamentary Secretary for that reply, but would he bear in mind the tremendous increase and interest in this sport, that evening classes for angling are held even in such urban constituencies as Muswell Hill, and would he watch the situation very carefully?
Yes, indeed.
