asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what damage has occurred to British citizens and property in the cyclone in the states of Colima, Nayarit and Jalisco in Mexico.

No damage affecting British subjects or property has been reported as a result of the cyclone which caused such tragic loss of life and property in Mexico.

Is my hon. Friend aware that this disaster, in which several hundred people met a terrible death and which is causing great suffering to many thousands, met with widespread sympathy in this country and, I dare say, in this House? Will my hon. Friend see that that is conveyed to the legislators of the States concerned?

Her Majesty's Government formally, and my right hon. and learned Friend personally, expressed sympathy to the Mexican Government. Knowing how well respected my hon. Friend is in Mexico, I have no doubt that his words will be warmly received there.
