May I ask whether the noble Lord the Minister of Power entered the negotiations for dealing with redundancy in the coalfields?

The Minister is responsible only, in relation to pensions matters, when it comes to approving agreements made between the National Coal Board and the National Union of Mineworkers. It is for them in the first place.
