asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a further statement on his examination of the working of the Fertilisers and Feeding Stuffs Act, 1926.

There are many factors to be considered among which the question of feedingstuffs additives is an important one. Scientific work on this is proceeding, but until further evidence is available I am not in a position to make a statement.

As the Joint Parliamentary Secretary said a year ago that the examination was proceeding, and as the right hon. Gentleman is still not able to make up his mind, will he appoint a committee to make up his mind for him?

I am grateful to the hon. Member for very helpfully suggesting how I should make up my mind, but I can assure him that this is a very complicated subject. The question of hormones is being studied. These are complicated matters which make it difficult to make an early announcement, but I shall try to hurry it up.
