asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to encourage increased trade between Scotland and Sweden, particularly in jute goods.
The development of these exports is for the private trader. But the Board of Trade and the commercial officers of Her Majesty's Embassy and Consulates in Sweden will certainly give all the help and advice in their power.
Is the hon. Gentleman aware that a Swedish spokesman recently said that there is no licensing, no restriction and no currency difficulty, but that Sweden is waiting for Scottish manufacturers to go across to find out the opportunities for themselves? Will the hon. Gentleman do everything he can to encourage them?
I certainly will. It is true that there are opportunities of which jute manufacturers, in particular, could take advantage.
