I am glad to state that Miss Ruth Tomlinson has agreed to be the United Kingdom represenative at the next session of the Status of Women Commission. My right hon. and learned Friend has been unable to make an appointment for more than one year as the present United Kingdom term of membership of the Commission expires at the end of 1958.

Will my hon. Friend accept through me the appreciative thanks of all women's organisations? Is he aware how fully they support Miss Tomlinson's appointment?

I am very grateful to my hon. Friend for her remarks which, I know, will give great encouragement to Miss Tomlinson.
