I am assured by the; Colonial Development Corporation, who manage this noted, that no racial discrimination is practised there. Indeed, I am informed that such discrimination is unknown in British Honduras.

While I welcome that assurance, may I ask the right hon. Gentleman if it does not make nonsense of the dollar-earning excuses quoted by the right hon. Gentleman himself to justify the colour bar in Bermuda, since this hotel also was built specifically to attract dollar tourist trade?

The same state of affairs does not exist everywhere. I think, as a matter of fact, that the circumstances there are different, but that does not alter what I said. I wish the same circumstances obtained elsewhere.

Will the right hon. Gentleman take it from me, as one who has used the hotel in Belize, that the only bar is an income bar?

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
