Will the right hon. and learned Gentleman nevertheless bear in mind that in vast sections of French public opinion of all political shades there is alarm and despair at the prospect of the re-emerging of an armed Germany, and will he further bear in mind that those who, in France and other countries which have suffered occupation, support the re-armament of Germany, tend to be identified in the public mind with those who collaborated with the Nazis during the occupation, and that this has a demoralising effect which greatly weakens our allies?
