asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken to increase and improve the water supply in Togoland; and whether particular action is being taken in this respect to meet the needs of the people in Kpanda, whose nearest supply is from rivers five or six miles distant.

An officer of the water supply department is now stationed in the Territory, and both the department and the native authorities are active in improving the water supply. I am asking the Governor for a report on the position at Kpanda and will write to my hon. Friend.
