– in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 26th October 1949.
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will now make a statement about the provision of refrigeration plant to enable mutton to be brought from the Falkland Islands.
Mr. Creech Jones:
I have received from the Colonial Development Corporation proposals for the provision and operation of such a plant and am giving them urgent consideration.
Does the right hon. Gentleman agree that the people of this country would rather eat good mutton and lamb from a British Colony in a sterling area, than bad beef from the Argentine?
