May I ask the Leader of the House if he can make a statement on the Business for the week when we re-assemble?

Yes, Sir.

Tuesday, 25th May—Supply (r4th allotted Day), Committee. The Board of Trade estimate will be considered with particular reference to clothing coupons; distribution of furniture; shortage of newsprint and distribution of industry.

Wednesday, 26th May—Report and Third Reading of the Employment and Training Bill; Consideration of Lords Amendments to the Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill; Committee and remaining stages of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Bill; and Consideration of the Motions to approve the Town and Country Planning Development Charge and Development Charge Exemptions Regulations and similar Regulations relating to Scotland.

It is hoped that the first three items of Business will be disposed of by about 7 o'clock, so that the Motions to approve the Town and Country Planning Regulations can be moved at an early hour.

Thursday, 27th May—Supply (15th Allotted Day), Committee. The Ministry of Works estimate will be considered with special relation to administrative costs and buildings until about 7 o'clock; Afterwards, consideration of the Opposition Motion for the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into the signatures to the Nenni telegram.

Friday, 28th May—Second Reading of the Nurseries and Child Minders Regulation Bill—[Laughter.] It is a curious thing how by accident Parliament sometimes becomes a thoroughly logical institution. Also, Second Reading of the Radioactive Substances Bill [Lords], and Committee stage of the necessary Money Resolutions. If there is time, we shall also take the Report and Third Reading of the Law Reform (Personal Injuries) Bill [Lords].

During the week we shall ask the House to consider any amendments which may be received from another place to the Motor Spirit (Regulation) Bill.

May I ask the Lord President of the Council which Minister will introduce the Nursery and Child Minders Bill?

In view of the collapse of interest in the Nenni telegram, will the Lord President of the Council consider allowing a discussion instead on the Motion on the Order Paper drawing attention to the warning given by Sir John Boyd Orr about impending disaster if we spend too much on armaments and do not plan our food supply?

[That this House urges the Government to give serious consideration to the warning given by Sir John Boyd Orr, late Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation that every influential country is spending one third of its national income today on some sort of preparation for war and that this may result in world catastrophe and famine and urges the Government to give a lead to the nations and prepare a long term World Plan for dealing with this situation.]

No, Sir, I will not, because it is not Government time but Opposition time.
