Oral Answers to Questions — Scotland – in the House of Commons at 12:00 am on 4 March 1947.
Mr William Snadden
, Kinross and Western
12:00,
4 March 1947
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that applicants for improvement grants under the Hill Farming Act, 1946, cannot yet obtain the necessary form of application; and what steps he proposes to take to make these available.
Mr Joseph Westwood
, Stirling and Falkirk District of Burghs
I expect that the first supplies of the necessary forms and explanatory matter relating to these grants will be ready for distribution by the end of this week.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
