Mr. McKie:

asked the Minister of Transport if it is now intended to provide a footpath between Ringford village and Tarff bridge, Kirkcudbrightshire, on the main trunk road from Dumfries to Stranraer, which footpath is necessary in the interests of public safety.

Plans are being prepared for the provision of a footpath between Ringford village and Ringford School during the coming year, if possible. The extension of the footpath to Tarff Bridge will also be considered.
