asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many were employed in Hamburg docks on 1st January, 1947, in protecting foodstuffs from pilfering; and what is the acreage of these docks.

There were 684 persons employed in guarding the traffic of the port. They are instructed to pay special attention to consignments of food. The total area of the docks is about 10,000 acres but a number of quays are still unusable and others handle bulky goods not generally subject to pilfering.
