Mr. Arthur Duckworth:

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is now proposed to hold an inquiry into all the circumstances lead- ing to the death of Denis O'Neill, at Bank Farm, Minsterley; and what form this inquiry will take.

Mr. Morrison:

Yes, Sir. I propose to arrange for a full inquiry into the circumstances which led to the boarding-out of Denis and Terence O'Neill at this farm and the steps taken to supervise their welfare. The inquiry will be conducted in public by an independent and impartial person and I hope to be in a position to announce the name in a few days. I would add that both of the local authorities concerned with the boarding-out of the children have asked that there should be an inquiry.
