asked the Secretary of State for Air the basis upon which the injured and the dependants of those killed in the explosion at Burton-on-Trent, on 27th November, 1944, will be compensated.

Compensation will be paid on the basis of the awards which those concerned might reasonably expect in a successful action for damages under the Fatal Accidents Act, the Law Reform Act, or at common law. Claimants have been invited to seek legal representation, either through their solicitors or through trade union machinery. All reasonable legal costs will be paid, in addition to settlements for compensation.
