asked the Prime Minister if he is aware of the views officially expressed by the United States Secretary of State as to the possible future status of Cyprus in relation to the problem of Greece; and if he will give an assurance that Cyprus will continue to form part of the British Empire, and that there is no question of it being ceded to Greece or any other country.

In view of the paramount importance of maintaining good relations between the United States and ourselves, will my right hon. Friend take such steps as lie in his power to inform public opinion in the United States that British subjects bitterly resent outside suggestions that British citizenship should be taken away from those who enjoy it?
