General publication of Professor Abercrombie's report will be unavoidably delayed for a few months. I hope, however, within the next few weeks to issue to local authorities in the Greater London region a working edition which will contain the full text, but it will not be possible to include in this edition all the maps which accompany the report.

In view of the importance of this matter, will my right hon. Friend now endeavour to expedite publication of this plan?

Yes, Sir, I am trying my best to expedite the matter. The difficulty is purely that of manufacture.

Is the object of the Minister, in issuing these proposals to local authorities, to ask them to take any action, or merely for their guidance and consideration?

It is to enable them to consider the proposals, and to let me have their comments upon them.
