I can give no accurate forecast as yet, but my hon. Friend will appreciate that the cost of producing coal will vary, as production goes up or down. I am hopeful that full production will mean a decrease in cost. So far as the cost of coal is concerned, while I appreciate that it is very much higher than it was in 1939, I would remind hon. Members that wages in this industry were then extremely low.
