Oral Answers to Questions — Public Health – in the House of Commons at on 20 April 1944.
Dr. Russell Thomas:
asked the Minister of Health whether the broadcast by a doctor at 7.45 p.m. on Saturday, 8th April, in regard to the White Paper on the proposed National Health Service under the title "The Week in Westminster," was made at the request of his Ministry.
No, Sir.
Dr. Russell Thomas:
In view of the glowing statements made by the doctor who broadcast on this subject on Easter Saturday, will the Minister of Health use his influence in order to see that people get a fair idea of the White Paper by endeavouring to get someone to 'broadcast the seamy side of this doubtful proposition?
It would be quite inappropriate for me to use my influence about what is said through the British Broadcasting Corporation.
What had the address in question to do with "The Week in Westminster" anyway?
