asked the Minister of Labour if he will make a statement on the dispute at Hallside Steel Works, Lanarkshire; and whether the men have offered to resume on the understanding that there is no discrimination against trade unionists.
My officers are in touch with both parties to this dispute, which arises because of the need to make a substantial reduction in the labour force employed. In order that the facts may be clearly ascertained, I am arranging for an independent inquiry.
