The Ethiopian Government issued a Proclamation on 26th August last, abolishing the state of slavery, thus carrying the previous decrees against slavery issued before the Italian occupation to the logical conclusion of total abolition. This Proclamation was published in the Ethiopian "Official Gazette" on 27th August. As stated on 18th June, the Gabar system was abolished by Proclamation on 2nd November, 1941.
