asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he has yet issued an Order to prohibit, or further to limit, the use of petrol in the service of hired motor-cars under the system known as drive-yourself hire; from what date it will operate; and what are its terms?

Major Lloyd George:

An Order is in an advanced stage of preparation.

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that his predecessor, now one of his colleagues in his own Department, said some time ago that this Order was in an active state of preparation, and bearing in mind that the basic ration ceases at the end of this month, will he redeem the pledge' given that this Order will come into force contemporaneously?

Major Lloyd George:

That I cannot possibly do, but I am looking into this matter at the moment, and I cannot add to the answer I have given.
