Mr. Graham White:

asked the President of the Board of Trade how it came about that artists are required to use their clothes coupons in respect of purchases of canvas for painting; and when this order is to be withdrawn?

The coupon-free sale of artists' canvas was allowed under a general licence, which lapsed on 1st June. It has already been announced that the canvas will continue to be exempted; the necessary new licence was issued last week.
