The present prices for milk were fixed after careful consideration of all the information
available, including costs and other data obtained from daily farms of varying sizes. The prices were not fixed in terms of any particular size of herd.
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food how many milk producers are selling milk on wholesale contract?
Major Lloyd George:
There are approximately 120,000 producers in England and Wales and 7,500 in Scotland, selling milk on wholesale contracts.
Has this figure altered very much within the last six months?
