All officers who are necessarily required to use motor cars on duty can use and drive their own cars for this purpose, thus obviating the need for provision of special Service cars and drivers. In addition, officers can drive Service vehicles where this can conveniently be arranged, thereby dispensing with the services of drivers of either sex. Any officer possessing a driving licence is considered to be competent to drive his own or an official car for official purposes, and the institution of a special Service driving test would therefore be unnecessary.
