Mr. Graham White:
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any licence has been granted within the last three months for the export of waste paper to South America?
No, Sir.
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will arrange under the Clothes Rationing Order, that white operating coats for dentists shall be supplied without the use of coupons?
No, Sir, but certain types of unlined jackets and long coats suitable for dentists are available at two and three coupons respectively.
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that chemists are not allowed to sell pneumonia jackets without coupons, even when ordered by a doctor; and, as these are only required in cases of extreme urgency and coupons are not always available, will he take steps to see that lives shall not be endangered through rigid adherence to these instructions?
Yes, Sir. I am looking into this matter and will write to my hon. and gallant Friend as soon as possible.
