Oral Answers to Questions — Food Supplies. – in the House of Commons at on 17 December 1941.
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what principle guides his policy of closing down small flour mills in favour of centralisation of wheat-milling in target areas?
Major Lloyd George:
My hon. and gallant Friend is under a misapprehension, but I am glad of the oportunity of explaining that the policy of my Department has been the exact reverse of that suggested in the Question. Since the beginning of hostilities, a number of small mills have been restarted and the output of such mills has helped to compensate for the reduction in capacity which has occurred in target areas.
