Oral Answers to Questions — Iran. – in the House of Commons at on 8 October 1941.
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what European Governments retain diplomatic representatives in Iran?
The following European Governments retain diplomatic representatives in Persia: His Majesty's Government and the Governments of the Soviet Union, Turkey, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Nor- way and Yugoslavia. The Persian Government have been asked to close the Vichy Legation and are, I understand, taking steps to do so.
May I ask whether any official diplomatic representatives have been allowed to resign but unofficially to carry on their activities in Iran?
Not that I am aware of, and in any event those I have just read out would be the only representatives who would have any facilities, either telegraphic or otherwise.
Are the Japanese Government still represented there?
That is another question, but I understand they are.
