asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings whether he is aware that a special building material is being manufactured in the United States of America out of surplus cotton which is thought to be suitable for the erection of hutments; and whether he will consider the possibility of obtaining American assistance under the Lease-Lend Act for the construction of accommodation to house-workers of evacuated industries in areas where there is shortage of accommodation?

At present this country's resources are adequate to provide materials for the construction of accommodation for workers of evacuated industries, but inquiries are already being made for further details of the experimental building material in question.
