A total sum of approximately £1,000,000 has been approved to date covering the period from 1st October, 1940, to 31st March, 1942. These figures do not include the cost of professional entertainment for the troops provided through the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes. Some further proposals for the current year are still under consideration.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
