asked the Minister of Health whether he will give the names of those Assistance Board Advisory Committees in Wales, Scotland and England who recommend deductions in the allowances of unemployed persons and old age pensioners living in predominantly rural areas, and the percentage recommended in each case.

I have been asked to reply. I would refer the hon. Member to the information relating to rural differentiation given in the Board's Report for 1937 (PP 11–13), from which he will see that various methods besides percentage deductions have been recommended by Advisory Committees. If, after referring to the report, he will let me know what further information he desires, I will ask the Board to furnish it.
