Oral Answers to Questions — Transport. – in the House of Commons on 12th February 1941.
asked the Minister of Transport whether, under the new dock labourers pooling scheme, Liverpool, he is taking steps to facilitate special transport services to and from the outer areas of the city for those labourers registered?
Yes, Sir. The provision of transport facilities for the dockers is under consideration as part of the general scheme.
Is the Minister aware that dockers will willingly work all night if asked to do so, and that the difficulty of food supplies applies to the inadequacy of canteens?
What I have in mind is that these labour forces must be extremely mobile at any time.
