Mr. Lindsay:
It has been the Board's practice to obtain reports upon probationary teaching service at the end of the year prescribed by the Code. I am considering whether it would be desirable and possible to modify this practice in view of the fact that a teacher may be called up for military service before the completion of that year; but, as the hon. Member was informed on the 7th December last, it is not proposed to count time spent by a teacher in the armed Forces as part of the probationary period.
