Mr William Dobbie
, Rotherham
asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in all cases where members of His Majesty's forces proceed on leave in excess of 72 hours, the military authority is instructed to pay such men ration money in advance; and, in cases where such money is not paid in advance and hardship arises, what remedy has the man at his disposal?
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
