asked the Minister of Economic Warfare whether, in order to prevent the diversion to Germany of normal butter and bacon supplies from the Baltic States to this country, because of the increased cost of transporting to this country, he will consider purchasing such supplies on Government account?

His Majesty's Government are giving close attention to the question of possible purchases of food supplies from the Baltic States. My hon. Friend will recall that at the present time all essential food supplies are purchased by His Majesty's Government.
