Part of the debate – in the House of Commons at on 8 March 1939.
Major Whiteley:
asked the Secretary of State for Air whether compensation for death or injury of volunteers in all ranks of the Royal Air Force; the number accepted for the six months ended to the last convenient date; and particulars of the number of provincial recruiting offices that are at present established for this service?
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
