Captain Cazalet:

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government have made any representations to the Argentine Government in regard to the smaller British-owned public utilities; and, if so, whether any suggestions have been made in regard to giving these industries the preferential exchange rates which have recently been accorded to the British-owned railways operating in Argentina?

His Majesty's Government are at present considering suggestions made by certain of the British public utility companies concerned that they might be allowed to remit to the United Kingdom at the rate recently accorded to the British-owned railway companies by the Argentine Government.

Captain Cazalet:

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that no less than £25,000,000 of British money is invested in these undertakings; and can we not get an assurance that they will have the same kind of preferential treatment as the railways?

I think the information of my hon. and gallant Friend is correct. We are at present considering certain suggestions.
