asked the Home Secretary whether his attention was called to the announcement of an all-in wrestling match between a man and a woman in the London area which was to have been held on Tuesday, 25th October; and whether he proposes to take any steps to prevent exhibitions of this character in the future?

I have seen Press reports of the cancellation of the exhibition to which the hon. Member refers. The London County Council obtained in their General Powers Act of this Session a provision giving them powers of control over public wrestling and as from the 1st January next, when the provision in question will come into operation, it will be competent to them to impose suitable restrictions on such displays or contests in the London area.

What will be the position of provincial towns who are without these powers?

I think the hon. Member had better put that question on the Order Paper.
