asked the Secretary of State for Air to what extent it is proposed to utilise the Stoke-on-Trent Meir aerodrome; what developments are contemplated; and is it intended to carry out any aircraft construction in the area?

A Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve centre is due to form at Stoke-on-Trent Meir Aerodrome on 1st August. As regards the last part of the question, it is not at present contemplated to set up a factory for the construction of aircraft at Stoke. Consideration will be given to the possibilities of the further employment of industrial resources in that area in connection with the various aspects of the air expansion programme.
