asked the First Lord of the Admiralty particulars of the number of applications that have been made to the Admiralty by film-producing companies during the previous three years for permission to use men of the Navy, ships, and/or naval stores for the purpose of assisting them in the production of British films; and how many such applications have been granted, and on what terms?

During the past three years five applications were received for assistance in the production of British films. Facilities were granted on each occasion. The firms were required to pay out-of-pocket expenses. In addition, stores were lent on one occasion and a charge for the loan was made.
