asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any information on the working of the new constitution in Fiji?

Mr. M. MacDonald:

The new constitution was introduced in June of last year, since when there have been three sessions of the Legislative Council. It is rather early to speak definitely of the results achieved; but so far as I can judge, the constitution is working satisfactorily. If the hon. Member desires, I shall be happy to send him copies of the minutes of the first two sessions. The minutes of the third session have not yet reached me.
