Will the Prime Minister state the business for Friday, and also state for what purpose he is moving to suspend the Rule to-day?

Photo of Mr Neville Chamberlain Mr Neville Chamberlain , Birmingham, Edgbaston

The business for Friday will be: Consideration of the Italian and Rumanian Clearing Office Amendment Orders; Second Reading of the Trade Marks Bill [Lords] and of the Patents, etc. (International Conventions) Bill [Lords]; and, if there is time, other Orders may be taken.

With regard to to-night's business, we want to obtain the Third Reading of the Coal Bill to-day. We are moving the suspension of the Rule as a precaution, in view of the interruption of the Debate at 7.30 for a private Bill, on which I am informed a Debate will take place.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 256; Noes, 111.
